The History
Wassail, sometimes known as hot mulled cider, is a popular holiday drink with many ingredients, including hot apple cider, sweet orange, cinnamon sticks, and sometimes brandy, sherry, or red wine.
Wassail's origins are believed to date back to Roman times, where it was traditionally consumed during festivals dedicated to Pomona, the Roman goddess of orchard fruit. Later adapted and adopted by the British, wassail has been referenced in their literature and poetry as far back as the Middle Ages. Wassail is a celebratory drink best enjoyed in the company of dear friends and family.
